Cable powered rail car is a special type of rail car that uses cable reels as its power supply method.
working principle
The cable reel powered rail car obtains power through the cable reel installed on the vehicle.
A certain length of power cable is wrapped around the drum. When the rail car is running, the cable is automatically released from the drum. At the same time, there is a dedicated cable retraction device at the rear of the vehicle to ensure that the cable can be extended and retracted in an orderly manner during operation, avoiding cable dragging or entanglement.
One end of the power supply cable is connected to a fixed power socket, and the power is transmitted to the electrical equipment on the rail car through the cable, providing power and electrical energy for the vehicle's motors, control systems, lighting, etc.
Cable reel device: This is one of the core components of the rail car, usually consisting of a reel, a drive motor, a reducer, a cable setter, etc.
The drum is made of high-strength materials with sufficient strength and toughness to carry the weight and tension of the cable.
The drive motor and reducer provide power for the rotation of the drum, and can be precisely controlled according to the operating speed of the rail car and the requirements for cable retraction.
The cable setter is responsible for neatly arranging the cables on the reel to prevent them from being tangled.
Power supply system: In addition to cable reels, it also includes components such as collectors and sliding contact wires.
The collector is installed at an appropriate position on the rail car, connected to the power supply cable, and introduces current into the electrical equipment inside the car.
The sliding contact line is a conductive device fixed near the track, which cooperates with the current collector to ensure stable transmission of current during the operation of the rail car.
Main body of rail car: Similar to ordinary rail cars, it has structures such as body, running gear, braking system, etc.
The car body is usually made of steel structure, which has good strength and stability.
The running gear includes wheels, axle boxes, suspension devices, etc., to ensure the smooth operation of the rail car on the track.
The braking system adopts reliable braking methods, such as air braking, electromagnetic braking, etc., to ensure the safety of the rail car during operation.
